The Lighthorne archive is continually expanding and contains diverse and interesting material. This presentation explains some of the most interesting items in the archive.

What disaster befell the church in 1905?
In 1939 which Lighthorne resident was the organiser of an attempt on the World Speed Record, using a modified Spitfire?
Why was a Lighthorne youth transported to Norfolk Island and Australia in 1844?
What did we see when we opened up the Verney vault in 2015?

Graveyard Project

From 2011 to 2014 members of the Lighthorne History Society surveyed the graveyard and recorded the inscriptions on the gravestones. The graveyard was triangulated and the grave positions were plotted. In 2018 amendments were made and in 2023 there has been a total revision with additional information. Reference sketch plans of grave positions are available via a link on the Archives page. Some of the gravestones have been photographed and these are held in the society archive.
